Writing Competitions

Let's Get You to that Finish Line

Our top request from families is to hold workshops for writing competitions! Well, we've FINALLY listened.

Many past EWC students have won prizes in national and regional writing competitions. To help advanced young writers navigate writing competitively, EWC will offer a series of writing competition bootcamps throughout the year.

We're selecting specific competitions to help our students go through the process.

NYT Student Editorial Contest

Every year, the NYT invites students to write expository essays and Op-Eds within 450 words.

In our bootcamp, you’ll learn:

  • how to write editorials;
  • complete an editorial piece on an issue that matters to you to submit to the NYT Editorial Contest.

Submission Deadline: April 12, 2023 @ 11:59 PT.

Bootcamp Time: March 11-April 8, 2023
