Writing Lab #3: Concise Sentences
Class Syllabus - Grades 6-8
Objective: Students will be able to implement best practices in order to make their writing more concise and clear.
What is a concise sentence?
How do we create concise sentences?
Why are concise sentences important?
A concise sentence is a sentence that has a clear subject, verb, and complement without extra details that muddle meaning.
Concise sentences are created by using the active voice, parallel structure, reducing wordy phrases, eliminating obvious information, and reducing prepositional phrases.
Concise sentences are important because they are the best and easiest way to express oneself clearly.
